FAQs
- How is the hostel? How many students stay in a room?
All the first-year students will be residing in the Arugul campus, the permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar. There are two separate hostels for boys and girls in which 2 students will be allotted a room. Considering the fact that students have been facing considerable academic pressure and stress, the institute has decided to put 2 students in a room for the first year and then have individual rooms for the next year. This also helps students to bond better. Once the new hostels are built, each student will be allotted a single occupancy room. The hostel is fully ventilated and hygienic with regular cleaning. There is provision for 24-hour high-speed internet connectivity via LANs in the hostels. Students can register their complaints in the hostel office regarding any issue like maintenance or hygiene.
- Is there any alternative option for eating apart from the mess?
Although the mess food is hygienic and has a variety in taste, there are canteens in the academic area as well as the residential area of the Arugul campus where students can have their food. There is a fruit shop, a bakery, and an ice cream parlor. All these places are affordable and maintain the ideal standards of hygiene.
- How are the medical facilities in the college and hostel?
There is a well-equipped dispensary on campus, with a 24 hours availability of ambulance service from the hostels to the dispensary in case of any emergency. Doctors and staff nurses are on duty round-the-clock. A well-stocked medical shop is functional 24×7 at the Shopping Complex. The institute also provides its students with medical insurance.
- How is the food quality in mess? What is the food menu?
The food provided in the mess is of standard quality. A Mess Committee comprising students themselves exists, which takes care of the quality of the food provided. The menu is decided after taking into consideration the suggestions of students and is a mix of North Indian and South Indian food.
